We are honoured to welcome you to the European Surgical Association (ESA) Annual Meeting 2027, taking place in Alicante, Spain, from 6 to 8 May 2027, at the ADDA (Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante).
This edition of the Annual Meeting, under the presidency of Prof. Christiane Bruns, with Prof. José Manuel Ramia as Local Organiser, gathers leading surgeons and academics from Europe and around the world for three days of high-level scientific exchange.
The ESA remains firmly committed to promoting excellence in both science and surgical practice. Membership of this organisation is an exclusive privilege reserved for internationally recognised leaders in surgery with an outstanding track record in both academic and clinical fields. Its Annual Meeting is the ultimate expression of this aim: a forum for presenting, discussing, and frequently publishing the most innovative and high-impact surgical research in the prestigious journal Annals of Surgery.
We are delighted to welcome our colleagues and ESA members, who represent Europe's leading medical institutions and the international scientific community. Their knowledge and experience ensure a comprehensive and stimulating congress that faithfully reflects the diversity and specialisation of contemporary surgery.

Social programme
Friday 7 May, 20:30 – Welcome Reception. Open to all participants (venue to be confirmed).
Saturday 8 May, 20:30 – Gala Dinner. The meeting concludes with a gala dinner at Santa Bárbara Castle, on Mount Benacantil, overlooking the city, the port and the Mediterranean.
